MSP Backup is the source of truth for all settings related to your deployed jobs in Veeam Agent for Windows (VAW). Any changes made directly to a job will automatically revert to the default settings as reflected in MSP Backup.
Default Job Configuration:
- Backup Mode: Entire Computer
- This option creates a backup of the entire computer image. When restoring from such a backup, all data on the system can be recovered, including specific volumes, files, folders, application settings, and other stored information.
- Account Service Point, Access & Secret Key:
- These settings are defined by Probax Scout when creating the backup job. You can retrieve these details using our KB article "How To: Retrieve Backup Job Recovery Details using MSP Backup".
- Retention Policy: 90 Days
- This setting specifies how long you want to store backup files in the target location.
- Make Recent Backups Immutable for <N> days: 30 Days
- This policy keeps your backups immutable (i.e., prevents them from being deleted or modified) for a specified number of days.
-
Backup Job Encryption:
- By default, Probax Scout encrypts all backup jobs during job creation.
-
Important Note: If you manually change your encryption key, you are responsible for managing the new key as it cannot be managed through MSP Backup.
-
Application Aware Processing:
This feature is enabled by default and uses Microsoft VSS to create transactionally consistent backups of servers that run VSS-aware applications such as:
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Microsoft SharePoint
- Microsoft Exchange
- Oracle
-
Schedule: Daily at 6:00 PM Local Time
- The backup job will automatically run every day at the specified time.
