How To: Perform Volume Level Restore using Veeam Agent for Windows

In our previous guide: How To: Deploy Servers Or Workstation Protection, we utilized Scout's automation to deploy a backup with Veeam Agent for Windows (VAW). In this guide, we will demonstrate how to restore volumes using VAW.

Perform Volume Level Restore using Veeam Agent for Windows

  1. Launch the Veeam Agent for Windows Volume Level Restore session from the taskbar:
  2. The Volume Level restore session will start at the Backup Location step. At this step, select Network Storage, and then Next:
  3. In the Network Storage step, ensure Object Storage is selected. Then click Next:
  4. At the Object Storage step, select S3 Compatible, and then select Next:
  5. In the Account step, you'll need to add your Service Point, Region, Access key, and Secret key.

  6. Once all required fields are filled out, click Next:
  7. At the Bucket step, click Browse, then in the Select Bucket window, choose your desired bucket. Click OK:
  8. Next, you’ll need to select the Folder to restore from. Click Browse, and in the Select Folder window, choose your desired folder. Then click OK:
  9. Once both the bucket and folder have added, click Next:
  10. In the Bucket step, double-click the job you want to restore from. Add your encryption key, and click OK:
  11. With the Backup Job decrypted, chose the protected resource to restore from. Click Next:
  12. At the Restore Point step, choose the required restore point. Click Next:
  13. Before proceeding with the restoration, please ensure that the following conditions are met:

    1. The target disk has equal or greater capacity than the original disk.

    2. The new disk is online and initialized.

  14. In the Disk Mapping step, click on Customize disk mapping:
  15. At the Disk Mapping window, right-click on the target disk and select Apply Disk Layout. Then, choose the original disk as the source for the layout:
  16. After you’ve confirmed the disk layout, click OK:
  17. At the Disk Mapping step, click on Next:
  18. In the Summary step, verify that all details are correct. Then click on Restore to initiate the restoration process:
  19. After completing the restoration process, click on Finish to conclude:
