In this guide, we will demonstrate how to install Veeam Backup and Replication utilizing Microsoft SQL.
Installing Veeam Backup and Replication:
- Download Veeam Backup and Replication here: Veeam Backup and Replication
- Once downloaded, right click the ISO and select Mount:
- Once mounted, launch the Setup.exe:
- When the Veeam Backup & Replication 12 windows launches, select Install:
- In the next window, select Install Veeam Backup & Replication:
- At the License Agreement step, select I Accept to continue:
- In the License window, select Next to accept the defaults:
Scout for VBR will automatically license VBR!
If you are utilizing our BYOV (Bring your own Veeam) plan, browse to your license file before selecting Next
- To get the most out of Scout for VBR, we will utilize Microsoft SQL with Veeam Backup and Replication.
- Install your own MsSQL instance or download Microsoft SQL Express found, here.
- Once MsSQL downloaded and installed select Customize Settings:
- In the Service Account window, select Next to keep the default account:

At the Database step, select the drop-down menu next to Use following database engine, then choose Microsoft SQL Server and click Next.
- In the Ready to Install step, select Install:
- Installation can take upwards two hours, depending on the hardware of your VBR server.
- Once the installation is complete, select Finish:
